May 8, 2026

The Braeburn Cross Country team delivered a strong and encouraging performance at the Kenton Cross Country warm-up event held on Thursday, 30th April, using the opportunity to sharpen their preparation ahead of upcoming competitions. Across all age categories, the athletes demonstrated commitment, resilience, and a growing confidence in their racing, setting a positive tone for the weeks ahead.

In the U9 races, Zita and Melinee impressed in the girls’ category with determined and confident runs, while Luca led the charge for the boys, showing excellent endurance, closely followed by Octave after a competitive effort. The U11 athletes also rose to the occasion, with Sophie producing a resilient performance in the girls’ race, well supported by Adelaid’s consistent pacing. In the boys’ category, Eli and David both showed great perseverance, contributing positively to the team’s overall effort.

The U13 races brought particularly exciting results, with Sydney leading the girls’ team and Haneen finishing just a second behind her in a tightly contested field. The standout moment of the event came in the U13 Boys category, where Alix secured an outstanding 1st place finish, with Johan following closely in 2nd place.

Building on this success, the second team competed at the Nanyuki Cross Country event on Saturday 2nd May, where all Braeburn athletes completed their races and earned an impressive top five team finish. Together, these performances have built strong momentum as the team looks ahead to the IAPS Cross Country Championships at Turi on May 9th.
